DAY 5 REVIEW
Day five wiped out the last unbeaten record. Kotozakura, the only man without a loss, was pushed out by Minoumi; Aonishiki could do nothing against Gonoyama's charge and was forced down, a second straight loss after Hakunofuji, leaving him 3-2. Onosato, by contrast, got his right arm inside on Yoshinofuji — a man he had never beaten in four meetings, forfeit aside — went forward and forced him out without alarm for his fourth win. Kirishima sent out Takanosho and Atamifuji pushed out Daieisho, so both promotion candidates are 4-1. New sekiwake Fujinokawa pushed out Hakunofuji for a third win, leaving Hakunofuji 1-4; Kotoshoho at maegashira one pushed out Takayasu, conqueror of Kirishima and Onosato, for his second. Debutant Kotobukinofuji forced out Shonannoumi, a fourth straight win after opening 0-2, and Asanoyama, Ura, Roga and Minoumi are also 4-1 — nine men share the lead after five days. Shodai, Shonannoumi, Ichiyamamoto and Yoshinofuji are 0-5. In juryo Nabatame forfeited to Tanji; in makushita the bout between the two men at makushita one went to Asahifuji, who threw Nishinoryu.

Win % = Glicko-2 expected score from each wrestler's latest rating. Shown for Juryo and above only — lower divisions have provisional ratings, so their predictions are unreliable. Bouts listed in fight order (main event last). Start times (~H:MM) are rough estimates based on the standard daily schedule and may shift with the day's pace. Green/red ± figures show the rating change from that bout — the bigger the upset, the bigger the number (provisional during the basho; new wrestlers can swing widely while their rating settles).
